A new piece of research has been released about the Learning Grounds issue: Closing the Achievement Gap: Using the Environment as an Integrating Context. "State Education and Environment Roundtable's 112 page report of a nationwide study of 40 U.S. schools that use Environment as an Integrating Context for learning (EIC). It describes EIC's major concepts, program characteristics, and implications for student learning." Have a look at the executive summary at www.seer.org, also look there for order information. This is a very exciting development for the work we do at Evergreen.
