Closing the Achievement Gap: Using the Environment as an Integrating Context.
State Education and Environment Roundtable's 112-page report of a nationwide study of 40 U. S. schools that use Environment as an Integrating Context for learning (EIC). It describes EIC's major concepts, program characteristics, and implications for student learning.

Videos: SEER has produced two videos on VHS to accompany the report:
** Beyond Walls, Across Disciplines, a CINE Golden Eagle Award-Winner, presents an elementary, middle and high school implementing EIC and shows EIC's potential across the disciplines (66 min).
** Closing the Achievement Gap: A Video Summary overview of the results of the study with educators' comments (14 min).
PowerPoint Presentation: SEER has produced a PowerPoint that summarizes the results presented in the Closing the Achievement Gap report:
** EIC PowerPoint Presentation on CD-ROM: "Improving Student Achievement" — using the environment as an integrating context for learning. This 40-slide PowerPoint presentation summarizes SEER’s research and explores how EIC can improve student achievement as well as their knowledge of community, environment and self.
